Waste management basically means how the waste needs to be disposed using proper techniques . The waste produced, if not disposed properly becomes an attraction for mosquitoes and other insects. In order to maintain a healthy life, proper hygiene and sanitation are necessary. Every plastic that has ever been produced can still be found in our seas, oceans and lands. plastic takes more than 450 years to be completely degraded. Industries and factories dump their toxic wastes and oils in oceans, which eventually harms the aquatic life. When this aquatic life is consumed by human beings, it leads to the poisoning of the entire food chain on all levels. It Is estimated that almost 2 billion tones of waste is produced every year across the globe. Waste management cannot be done effectively if each and every person on this planet doesn’t take cognizance of the problem. There are various methods by which the waste can be disposed. Some of them are Landfills, Recycling, Composting, etc. the most important method is the recycling of waste. Recycling is the reusing of things that are scrapped of. In simple words it means converting waste into useful resources. We on our level can try to reduce the waste we produce in day to day life by :
1.we can replace the plastic bags with jute bags or handmade paper bags
2.Use rechargeable batteries to reduce metal pollution.
3.Checking the population growth so that demand of goods is under control.
Some of the advantages of waste management are:
1.Waste Management keeps the Environment Clean
2.Global warming and air pollution can be minimized
3.It helps in resources sustainability
Waste management has gained so much importance because our planet Earth has already begun to face the repercussions of the waste we produce . Government should initiate awareness campaigns and advertisements informing people about adverse effects of excess waste.
